Google Business Profile for siding and gutters
Google Business Profile for siding and gutters: two categories, or you rank for one.
Your Google Business Profile is about a third of your Map Pack ranking. It also decides which of your two services a searcher can even find you for, because Google matches your categories to the exact search.
Google Business Profile optimization for siding and gutters is the work of setting the fields that drive ranking and the customer's choice. The order: a primary category for the service that is most of your revenue, and a secondary category for the other, so siding contractor and a gutter category both appear. A service list split by material and by job: vinyl siding, fiber cement, cedar and rainscreen, seamless gutters, downspouts, leaf protection, storm repair. A service area that matches your crews. Accurate hours. Recent reviews with replies for both service types. Profile signals are about 32% of Local Pack ranking, per Whitespark's 2026 survey, and relevance is how well the profile matches the search.
By the numbers
- ~32% of Local Pack ranking sits in Google Business Profile signals, per Whitespark's 2026 survey. INDEPENDENT RESEARCH
- Two categories: a siding category and a gutter category. A siding-only profile is weak for every gutter search. GOOGLE DOCUMENTED
- Materials as services: list vinyl, fiber cement, cedar, and rainscreen separately, since the re-side buyer searches by material. DHM INTERPRETATION
- Review recency drives whether a consumer contacts a local business, per BrightLocal's 2026 survey. Ask on both job types. INDEPENDENT RESEARCH
The siding and gutter profile, field by field
Do these in order. The first three decide whether you rank at all, and for which service.
- Categories: primary for the bigger revenue service, secondary for the other. Siding contractor plus a gutter category such as gutter cleaning service or rain gutter supplier, whichever fits. Add roofing supply store or others only if real.
- Services: list every real line by material and job. Vinyl siding, fiber cement siding, cedar and wood siding, rainscreen re-clad, soffit and fascia, seamless aluminum gutters, downspouts and drainage, leaf protection, storm and wind repair. One short plain line each.
- Service area: the towns your crews really cover, closest first. Do not fill the 20-area limit for its own sake.
- Hours: your real hours. Siding and gutters are daytime trades, so there is no 24/7 to claim, but a person should answer during and right after a windstorm.
- Reviews: ask at job close-out on both service types, not just the big siding contracts, and reply to every one. Reviews that name the material or the storm repair do extra work.
- Description and photos: name your WorkSafeBC coverage, any James Hardie or manufacturer credential, and your rainscreen practice as plain fact. Add finished-job photos with siding and gutter work labelled separately.
Where siding and gutter profiles go wrong
- Only a siding category. The most common and most expensive gap. Every gutter search reads you as weakly relevant.
- Services as one line. Vinyl, fiber cement, cedar, rainscreen, and gutters are separate searches. Split them.
- A shared photo gallery. Label siding and gutter jobs apart so each service shows its own proof.
- Service area drawn as a wide circle over towns you would not send a crew to. It thins your relevance where it counts.
- No material or credential language. The re-side upgrader looks for the brand and the installer certification.
- A second, older listing from a move or a rebrand, splitting your reviews and signals. See duplicate listings.
The profile is only half the picture
A perfect profile still fades with distance, and relevance differs by service. To see how far yours carries for each, run a geo-grid check with a grid per service. And Map Check-Ins turns each finished job into a dated, mapped record on your site and profile.

Questions we get
Frequently asked questions
What are the best Google Business Profile categories for a siding and gutter company?
Two: a siding contractor category as primary if siding is most of your revenue, and a gutter category such as gutter cleaning service or rain gutter supplier as secondary. The primary category is one of the strongest ranking signals, and a missing gutter category costs you every gutter search.
Should we list siding materials as separate services?
Yes. Vinyl, fiber cement, cedar, and rainscreen re-clad are distinct searches with distinct budgets, and the re-side upgrader searches by material. List each as its own service line, and back it with photos.
How should we handle photos for two services?
Label them separately. A re-clad before-and-after and a seamless-gutter run are different proof for different buyers. A single mixed gallery makes each service look thinner than it is.
Do we need to name a manufacturer certification?
If you hold one, yes. A James Hardie or similar installer credential is something the re-side upgrader actively checks. Name it in the description and on the material page, not buried on an about page.
My profile got suspended. What now?
Do not create a new one. Read the steps in the profile suspended guide. Fix the likely cause. Then appeal with proof of the business. It can take time.
